Alex Hastie, PhD
Alex Hastie, PhD, is Bionano’s Chief Scientific Officer where he leads global scientific strategy, innovation, and research initiatives to advance genome analysis solutions for translational and clinical applications. Dr. Hastie and his teams are important drivers for the continued development and adoption of optical genome mapping (OGM).
Dr. Hastie is one of the foundational architects of Bionano’s core platform and spent 14 years advancing OGM technology across cytogenomics, oncology, and rare disease research. He has also led medical affairs and strategic alliances in oncology genomic testing, including key executive roles at Arima Genomics and Inocras. Dr. Hastie has more than 70 peer reviewed publications and eight patents and patent applications.
Dr. Hastie holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Roswell Park Cancer Institute and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry.
